The Minnesota Wild make a huge splash today when they signed two of the most wanted hockey players in the NHL. The Wild signed forward Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter to 13 year contracts worth $98 million each.
Parise had 69 points last season with the New Jersey Devils. He was the Devils captain and at 27 years of age he has 194 goals and 216 assists in 503 games.
Suter had 46 points last season with the Nashville Predators and 238 points in 542 NHL games. Suter who is also 27 years of age is considered an all-star defenseman that will help the Wild with his skills and character.
The Wild is taking next season very seriously. The Minnesota Wild haven’t made the playoffs since 2007-08 when they were eliminated by the Colorado Avalanche in the quarterfinals. They finished the 2011-12 season in 24th place with 81 points so with these two new additions to their team they are hoping for a better outcome. They spent $196 million and made probably one of the biggest free agent signings in history to bring great hockey back to Minnesota, and that’s just what they did! The Wild could prove to be a serious threat this season with players like Dany Heatley, Mikko Koivu, Devin Setoguchi and now Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. All I can say is look out hockey world Minnesota means business!!
