Russia Is On Top Of The Hockey World

Russia blew past Slovakia 6-2 to win the gold medal at the 2012 World Hockey Championships in Sochi, Russia. Scoring for Russia was Alexander Semin who had two goals and Alexander Perezhogin, Alexei Tereshenko, Paval Datsyuk and Evgeni Malkin all chipped in a goal a piece. Zdeno Chara had Slovakia’s only two goals.

The Czech Republic won the bronze medal with a 3-2 win over the defending championships Finland. Team Canada was ousted by Slovakia 4-3 in the quarterfinals and Team USA was eliminated by Finland 3-2 in the quarterfinals.

Russia is now once again the most dominate force in hockey. With players like Evgeni Malkin, Alexander Semin, Paval Datsyuk and Alexander Ovechkin how can they lose! Russia had a fully loaded line-up that truly dominated this WHC. Evgeni Malkin was named World Hockey Championship tournament MVP. He had 19 points 11 of which were goals.
