New Jersey Devils forward Ilya Kovalchuk has been sidelined due to a lower body injury. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello wouldn’t go into details about Kovalchuk’s injury he just said that he is listed day-to-day and that Kovalchuk is back in New Jersey recovering.
Some people are speculating that Kovalchuk has a groin/leg injury but nothing has been confirmed. This injury occurred in the first series between the Devils and the Panthers and the symptoms have gotten worse. Kovalchuk is a key part of the Devils line-up. He scored 37 goals and 88 points during the regular season and has 6 points in the post season so far.
As the Devils are set to face the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, Kovalchuk’s absence won’t go unnoticed. The Flyers lead the series 1-0 and will try to capitalize on Kovalchuk’s absence. However the Flyers will have another star player to contend with as rookie defenseman Adam Larsson will make his playoff debut tonight for New Jersey.
