Kings of the West!

The Los Angeles Kings are heading to the Stanley Cup final. They defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 4-3 in overtime last night to win the series 4-1. The Kings have had a remarkable post season, losing only two games since the playoffs began. They eliminated the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 and the St. Louis Blues 4-0. The Kings are now waiting to see who they will face next. The New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils have their series tied a 2 gamesĀ  a piece and game 5 will take place tonight.

Dustin Penner got the overtime winner for the Kings last night but it’s goaltender Jonathan Quick who has kept his team on top throughout the playoffs. He is in the lead with 12 wins and he has a save percentage of .946. Quick’s goals against average is an impressive 1.54, the best in the NHL right now.

The Los Angeles Kings have not made it to the Stanley Cup final since 1993 where they lost against the Montreal Canadiens. That was the only time the Kings had made it to the Stanley Cup final but this year they are hoping for a different outcome. The Kings have yet to lose of the road in these playoffs and they are hoping to keep their Cinderella story going right into Stanley Cup history!
