The NHL’s Board of Governors have a approved the sale of the St. Louis Blues. This announcement comes after the Blues were swept by the Los Angeles Kings in round two of the 2012 NHL playoffs.
The group interested in purchasing the Blues is led by current minority owner Tom Stillman, CEO of Summit Distributing of St. Louis. The group will purchase not only the Blues but their AHL team the Peoria Riverman and they will lease the Scottrade Center and own a percentage of the Peabody Opera House.
The group includes the Taylor Family, Senator John Danforth, Donn Lux and Steve Maritz. There is speculation that former St. Louis Blues forward Brett Hull will be part of the new management team.
The deal is expected to be finalized on Wednesday and the St. Louis Blues will be making a statement to the media on Thursday.
