The Pittsburgh Penguins came to Philadelphia last night to play some hockey and that is just what they did. They destroyed the Flyers by scoring 8 unanswered goals to win the game 10-3. Jordan Staal was the star for Pittsburgh as he led his team in scoring when he recorded a hat-trick. Evgeni Malkin finally found the scoreboard last night. He had two goals and an assist. Sidney Crosby, Matt Niskanen, Kris Letang, Pascal Dupuis and Steve Sullivan all added a goal to prevent being swept by the Flyers.
The Flyers still lead the series 3-1 but last night they completely fell apart. Philadelphia decided to pull Ilya Bryzgalov after letting in five goals on 18 shots. Sergei Bobrovsky didn’t fair much better in net also allowing 5 goals on 18 shots. The Flyers took a lot of undisciplined penalties which cost them 4 goals.
I think the biggest story from last night’s game is Marc-Andre Fleury. He finally found his groove in goal for the Penguins. He stopped 22 out of 25 shots and had a save percentage of .880 which is pretty remarkable considering in his last game his goals against average was 6.34. If Fleury can keep his momentum going the Pittsburgh Penguins might really have a change at beating the Flyers. However being down 3 games to 1 in a best of 7 series isn’t really the best odds to have so the Penguins will have to keep their heads in the game because one mistake can really cost them.
