Pietrangelo’s Status Still Unknown

The St. Louis Blues may be without their star defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Pietrangelo suffered what head coach Ken Hitchcock calls a “middle to lower” body injury.

He skated with the Blues this morning but his status for tonight’s game will be a game time decision. The loss of Pietrangelo would be a terrible blow to the Blues line-up as they face the Los Angeles Kings tonight in game 2.

The Blues are already without goaltender Jaroslav Halak do to a lower body injury that he received when his own teammate Barret Jackman collided with him in game 2 of the Blues/Sharks series. Brian Elliot has replaced his partner in goal and went on to win three straight games to end the series with San Jose.

The Blues lost their first game against the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 so if Pietrangelo can play tonight that will be a huge boost the St. Louis’ line-up. The Blues are one of the best defensive teams in the NHL and Alex Pietrangelo is a huge part of their success. He led his team with assists during the regular season and was third overall on his team with 51 points, recording 6 game winning goals.

Tonight’s decision about Pietrangelo’s status will be made prior to warm-up. If he is on the ice during the warm-up then he will be in tonight’s line-up. Stay tuned for further updates on Pietrangelo and Halak’s injury status.
