Halak Will Miss Game 3 With A Lower-Body Injury

The St. Louis Blues with be without half of their goaltending duo tonight when they take on the San Jose Sharks in game 3 of their best of 7 series. Jaroslav Halak was injured when his own teammate Barret Jackman collided with him in game two. Halak had to leave that game and Blues Coach Ken Hitchcock has announced that Halak will miss tonight’s game due to an lower-body injury. Brian Elliot came in to replace his partner in the Blues 3-0 victory over the Sharks.

Here’s a look at the collision between Jackman and Halak:

Elliot will get the start in goal tonight and the Blues are likely to call-up Jake Allen from the Peoria Riverman as his back-up. Allen was called up last week when it appeared Elliot would not be able to play but he was sent back down once Elliot recovered.

Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliot are a great goaltending team and they just recently won the William Jennings Trophy for the hockey club that allowed the fewest goals during the regular season. They have combined together for 15 shutouts during the regular season as the Blues have had an incredible season this year.
