The Philadelphia Flyer have finally eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins today in game 6. Claude Giroux started the game with a thundering hit on Sidney Crosby and they he went on to score the first goal just 32 second into the game. Scott Hartnell, Erik Gustafsson, Danny Briere and Brayden Schenn scored the other goals for the Flyers. Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin scored Pittsburgh’s only goal of the game. The Flyers won 5-1.
Marc-Andre Fleury had seemed to finally find his groove in the last two games but today he was shaking from the beginning and he gave up a weak goal to Danny Briere which sucked the momentum right out of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins got a late goal but it was disallowed because Ilya Bryzgalov was pushed into his net. Crosby was very quiet after receiving that thunderous hit by Giroux at the beginning of the game.
As the last minute of play counted down the Flyers fans continued their chants “YOU CAN”T BEAT US!” and I guess they were right! The Flyers won the series 4-2.

I was at work during this game, but was following the score on my phone. It hurt to see my team lose like this, but we Pens fans are stronger than the Flyers fans think that we are and we’ll move on. We’ll be ready for next season. As far as the Flyers go, they’ll need all the luck that they can get. It’s been since 1975 since they’ve won a Stanley Cup and they have two more rounds of games to go as well as the finals. They better not get too cocky yet.
Hindsight is what it is, but if the Pens hadn’t gotten sucked into Phily’s “Cage Fighting” game plan, and played Pens hockey like games 4 & 5, it would be Pittsburg waving the towels. They’ll be there next year. It was a valuable lesson learned!
HERE’S HOPING CROSBY AND A FEW OF THE BOYS CAN JOIN TEAM CANADA FOR THE WORLDS!!!!
I have to agree with Millsie and Kelly. Picked by the experts togo all the way and a year before Crosby get’s back on the ice and they forgot defense. This was their year because they have many salary problems coming up. Most of the Blue liners are under contract. My concern is Jordan Staal. Every team in the league would love tohave this two way player. Plus my daughter wouldn’t be the same!! Tough to see us lose to those morons in Philly.
Yeah they fell right into Philly’s trap! The Penguins are a highly skilled team that just didn’t stick to the game plan. Everyone (including me) figured that Pittsburgh would be in the final but the playoffs are unpredictable. The Penguins better not let Staal get away! He’s an amazing hockey and there will be lots of teams ready to snatch him up if the Penguins don’t seal the deal before it’s too late!
