And The West Was Won

Thanks to last night the Western Conference was finally decided. The Nashville Predators eliminated the Dallas Stars with a 2-0 win. The already eliminated Columbus Blue Jackets played spoilers last night beating the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 to eliminate them from playoff contention.

The NHL teams haven’t clinch their exact spot in the standings yet but here’s a look at how it stands right now. In order from 1st to 8th: Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks and the Phoenix Coyotes. These teams should make for an interesting post season.

As of right now this could be the match-ups for the first round of the playoffs:

Home Team vs Away Team – Season Series

Vancouver Canucks vs. Phoenix Coyotes – Tied 2-2.

St. Louis Blues vs. San Jose Sharks – St. Louis leads 4-0.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Chicago Blackhawks – Kings lead 3-1.

Nashville Predators vs. Detroit Red Wings – Tied 3-3.

As well all know these match-ups could change before the end of the season but I just wanted to give you a little preview of what the 1st round of the playoffs could look like in the Western Conference.
