After allowing 3 straight unanswered goals the Winnipeg Jets managed to comeback and beat the Washington Capitals 4-3 in overtime. Jason Chimera put the Capitals up 1-0 in the first and Alexander Ovechkin scored 2 goals in the 2nd to give the Caps a 3 goal lead. Finally the Jets were able to fine the back of Washington’s net when Ben Maxwell scored. Bryan Little scored two minutes later to bring the Jets back within one. Late in the 3rd period Spencer Machacek tied the game at 3-3 to force an overtime period. But it was Tim Stapleton who was the hero for Winnipeg beating Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth. Neuvirth stopped 38 out of 42 shots in this disheartening loss last night.
With the Jets only 4 points back of the 8th place Capitals their playoff hopes will remain alive for a little longer. Winnipeg has 8 games left of their regular season so they will need to keep on winning and hope that Washington and Buffalo will lose. The Jets will have their hands full tonight as they take on the red-hot Nashville Predators. The Predators are in 5th in the West and are having an incredible season so far but let’s just hope the Jets can pull off another important victory tonight.
