The Winnipeg Jets travel to Vancouver tonight to take on the Canucks. The Jets are currently holding onto the 8th spot in the East but they will have a tough challenge in front of them as the Canucks have won 2 straight games and they are leading the Western Conference with 91 points. The Jets have also won 2 straight games and they are only 2 points back of the Southeast division leaders; the Florida Panthers.
Lucky for the Jets the Canucks have lost 2 straight games on home ice. Canucks All-Star Henrik Sedin has gone scoreless for his last six games but Kevin Bieska has stepped up for Vancouver and has 4 points in his last 3 games.
Blake Wheeler and Evander Kane have been hot as of late and they have been coming through when it counts for the Jets. Wheeler has 16 points in the last 9 games and Kane has 7 goals in 9 games as well.
No matter who your favorite NHL hockey team is all Canadians are pulling for the Jets to make it to the playoffs. The Jets return to Winnipeg was a truly spectacular event that was long overdue. Now the players need to step up their game even more and pull off a playoff appearance. No one is expected the Jets to go “all the way” but you never know what can happen. Playoff hockey is completely different than the regular season so lets just hope that the Jets are able to hold onto the 8th and final spot.
