Pittsburgh Continues to Dominate in the East

The Pittsburgh Penguins have dominated the Eastern Conference as of late. They have won 9 straight games and they are only 2 point behind the 1st place New York Rangers. The Penguins faced off against the Boston Bruins this afternoon. Pittsburgh came out strong with Aaron Asham getting the first goal of the game. Then Matt Niskanen, James Neal, Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis all added goals. Tim Thomas was pulled after allowing 3 goals in the first period so Marty Turco came in for his first game this season with the Bruins. David Krejci scored both of Boston goals this afternoon and the Penguins won the game 5-2.

Evgeni Malkin got his 500th career NHL point in today’s games and James Neal got his 200th career NHL point today as well. Malkin had 3 assists and he regained his spot as the NHL’s league leading points scorer. Now with 84 points so far this season Malkin is well on his way to winning the Art Ross Trophy.

With Sidney Crosby set to return on Thursday the Penguins are unstoppable. They have a really good chance at winning the Stanley Cup this season and with players like Malkin, Neal, Fleury and now Crosby in the line-up the Penguins can truly dominate in the NHL.
