The Nashville Predators have to be one of the most underrated hockey teams in the NHL right now. The Predators are currently in 4th place in the Western Conference with 92 points. They have went 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and they have an impressive at-home record of 23-8-5.
Nashville is one of the teams that benefited the most from the 2012 trade deadline. They acquired Hal Gill from the Montreal Canadiens prior to the February 27th trade deadline. On February 27th the Predators then acquired Andrei Kostitsyn from the Montreal Canadiens and Paul Gaustad from the Buffalo Sabres. Andrei Kostitsyn was reunited with his brother Sergei Kostitsyn in Nashville.
The Predators have been having an impressive season so far this year and Martin Erat has been hot as of late recording 7 points in the last week. Erat leads the team with 56 points while Mike Fisher leads the Predators with 23 goals. Nashville is a team that you don’t hear much about but I thought their recent performances were worth mentioning.
Now with the impending return of Alexander Radulov from the KHL the Predators Stanley Cup chances just got a whole lot better. Radulov was a two time MVP in the KHL and he has 63 points in just 50 games this season. While in Russia he lead his team to Gagarin Cup and has recorded 254 points in 210 games. Now that Radulov has had a chance to mature in the KHL he will become a serious threat in the NHL when he returns to Nashville. In the 2007-08 season Radulov recorded 44 goals and 51 assists with the Predators before leaving to join the KHL. His much anticipated return will bring depth to the team and points to the scoreboard.
Since the Montreal Canadiens aren’t going to make the playoffs it’s nice to see some former Habs doing so well. If the Predators continue to play the way they have been playing they will without a doubt make the playoffs and could be serious contenders for the Cup this year!
