Finally!!! The Canadiens Fire GM Pierre Gauthier

Well it’s about time. Geoff Molson has finally fired the Montreal Canadiens General Manager Pierre Gauthier. Gauthier’s firing was inevitable since the Canadiens have had one of the worst seasons in franchise history. In my opinion Gauthier has done nothing but hurt the team the season. He has dismantled the Canadiens piece by piece and Geoff Molson allowed it to go on way too long. However I for one am grateful that Molson has come to his senses and made the appropriate change.

Former GM Serge Savard has been brought in by Geoff Molson so help in the search for a new general manager. Bob Gainey has also been removed as special adviser to the General Manager and Larry Carriere who is the assistant general manager and also the assistant coach to Randy Cunneyworth will be stepping down as assistant coach to focus on the assistant general manager position until a new GM can be named.

As you can tell I am very happy with the firing of Gauthier. I haven’t seen the Canadiens in such chaos as they were under his control. We all know that Jacques Martin was fired as a way for Gauthier to hopefully keep his job. Well guess what? It didn’t work! You fired a good coach, you traded away some of our great players and now what? We can’t make the playoffs. It took all season just to get the Canadiens to start playing together and they are still fighting amongst themselves. All I can say is good riddance Gauthier!!

I am so excited to see what will happen next? Where is this team headed? Only time will tell but the next few months are going to be interesting that’s for sure!! Stay tuned for all your Montreal Canadien News!!
