Daniel Sedin Out Indefinitely With Head Injury

The Vancouver Canucks will be one man short tonight when they take on the Dallas Stars. All-Star forward Daniel Sedin was injured in last night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks when Duncan Keith elbowed Sedin in the head in open ice. Sedin has been flown back to Vancouver to meet with specialists and to have his injury reassessed.

The Blackhawks have been informed that there will be a disciplinary hearing about the incident however they are waiting until the extent of Sedin’s injury is clear.

As the Canucks fear the worst, they are not taking any chances with his treatment. Once he is evaluated by a specialist they will treat him for a soft tissue injury while he’s recovering from what everyone fears is a concussion. Sedin’s injury is a huge loss to the Canucks right now. Vancouver is still holding onto 2nd place in the West but they have only won 3 out of their last 10 games and they have teams like Nashville, Detroit and Chicago closing in on them. Only 3 points separate the Vancouver Canucks from being in 2nd place to being in 6th place.

Here’s a look at the hit that injured Daniel Sedin:
