The NHL’s best and worst teams may surprise you right now. The team with the best record for the last 10 games is surprisingly the Phoenix Coyotes. They have a record of 9-0-1 and they have 73 points. The Vancouver Canucks and the Anaheim Ducks are tied for the next best recent record. They are both a 7-1-2 however the Canucks are currently in 1st place and the Ducks are in 13th place. Big difference in the standings but both teams are hot as of late.
On the other hand the NHL team with the worst record for their last 10 games is the Toronto Maple Leafs. They record is 2-7-1 and they have recently slipped out of a playoff spot and are now 3-points back of the 8th place Winnipeg Jets. The Chicago Blackhawks makes my list of the current worst teams in the NHL. They have only won 4 out of their last 10 games and they have been struggling ever since their captain Jonathan Toews was placed on the injured list. Now there are quite a few teams with the 10-games record of 4-5-1 but I am only going to mention 2. The Montreal Canadiens have been having the worst season in franchise history and they just seem to be getting worse and they Calgary Flames are on the verge of losing their 4th straight game tonight with a loss to St. Louis.
Now I would like to take a few minutes to mention that NHL hockey players that have been hot lately. Well of course Evgeni Malkin is at the top of the list. Malkin has really been hot all season and he has been an inspiration for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson is by far the hottest defenseman in the NHL. He has broken numerous Ottawa Senators franchise records this season. He averages 2 to 3 points a game and he has truly been a remarkable asset for the Senators. I can’t forget New York Ranger’s goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. He leads the league in shutouts and the save percentage. Lundqvist has 29 wins and a goals against average of 1.78.
This is my current opinion of the best players in the NHL. These players/teams have played hard lately and they deserve recognition and as for the worst teams well someone has to be in last place.
