The Hurricanes Face the Capitals; Cam Ward Out of the Line-up

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward will be out of the line-up tonight due to a lower-body injury. Justin Peters will get the nod and Mike Murphy, who was called up from the AHL, will be the back-up goaltender tonight.

With a win tonight the Washington Capitals will climb into 8th spot in the Eastern Conference. The will play the Carolina Hurricanes who are desperate for some wins. The Hurricanes have been improving since the All-Star break and they have a record of 5-2-3 in their last 10 games.

The Capitals have won three out of the four meetings with Carolina this season. But they will be looking to Alexander for leadership, however it’s not Alexander Ovechkin, it’s Alexander Semin. Semin has 7 points in his last 6 games. He seems to be the only Capitals player that has not been struggling. Ovechkin still leads the Capitals in points but he hasn’t had a great season so far.

The last meeting between these two teams took place in January 20th where Carolina shutout Washington 3-0. Washington won the previous 3 meetings this season and they are going to be out of blood tonight as they search desperately for a playoff spot. NHL hockey has been getting better and better with each week but time is running out. The Hurricanes are currently in last place in the East but they are going to do everything in their power to stop the Capitals tonight. Hurricanes captain Eric Staal has 8 points in his last 5 games so the Capitals better be ready tonight.
