Capitals are feeling the pressure with another loss last night. They lost 5-3 to the surging San Jose Sharks. San Jose scored powerplay goals from Patrick Marleau and another one from Joe Pavelski. Pavelski added another goals and Brent Burns put the icing on the cake with another goal for the Sharks.
Scoring for Washington was Dmitry Orlov, Roman Hamrlik and Jeff Schultz. Capital’s captain Alexander Ovechkin failed to get on the score board for the 2nd game in a row. All Washington’s goals came from their defenseman last night. Washington is now sitting outside a playoff spot and their time is running out.
Washington’s next game is on Friday night against the Florida Panthers. Florida currently holds the 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference standings so this will be no easy task for the Capitals. Without Alexander Ovechkin being able to score the will have to look to other players like Alexander Semin to take the reins. The Capitals can’t afford any more losses if they want to make the playoffs this year. Ovechkin needs to step up his game and play hockey they way everyone knows he can.
