The Ottawa Senators might have lost 5-3 to the Boston Bruins tonight but Erik Karlsson was still by far one of the best players on the ice. Karlsson scored Ottawa’s first goal of the night on a wrist shot with a pass from Jason Spezza. The Bruins then scored 4 goals. The goal scorers were Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, Carter Camper and David Krejci.
Then a fight between Chris Niel and Zdeno Chara lit a fire on the Ottawa Senators bench. Daniel Alfredsson scored back-to-back goals for the Senators and Erik Karlsson and Jason Spezza assisted on both of those goals. Karlsson and Spezza each have 3 points tonight. Patrice Bergeron added an empty net goal for his 2nd goal of the night.
Erik Karlsson has been on fire as of late. He is by far one of the best defensemans in the NHL right now and he has set a new franchise record this season for recording the most assists by a defenseman in Ottawa Senators history. With the 3 points tonight he has tied the another Senators franchise record held by Norm Mciver for the most points record in a single season. He now has 63 points and he will have the record all to himself with one more point. He has 10 points in the last 3 games so I am sure he will have no problem getting another point before the season is over.
Karlsson has been sensational this season and even when the Senators don’t he is still one of the top players on ice. He always goes out there and gives it 100 percent and no one can ask for anymore than that.
