Detroit Plays For History Tonight!

The Detroit Red Wings are going for their 21st straight win on home ice tonight when they host the Dallas Stars. The Red Wings pulled off a 4-3 win over the reigning title holders the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday night. With goaltender Jimmy Howard out of the line-up there was some doubt that Detroit might not be able to pull it off but Nova Scotia native Joey MacDonald did not disappoint. With 26 saves MacDonald was able to hold on and help Detroit tie the record with their 20th straight home win.

Todd Bertuzzi has been a clench player for the Red Wings scoring the winning goals and making the most of his shootout opportunities. The Red Wings have already made franchise history now they are on pace to make NHL history. With tonight’s win over the Dallas Stars they will be in the history books but will Dallas spoil Detroit’s party? The 11th place Stars have an away record of 13-13-1 and are currently 4 points back of 8th place Phoenix. The Stars are in desperation mode and they need every game to count.

But can they stop history in the making or is Detroit’s domination on home ice too much for the Stars to handle. If the Red Wings win tonight the Joe Louis Arena will never be the same. With so many veteran players on the team tonight’s win could be one of the most important wins of their careers. The 1st place Red Wings are on pace for the Stanley Cup finals this year but we all know anything can happen during playoff time so tonight might be the night to remember in Detroit.
