Carolina Storms Through Montreal

The Carolina Hurricanes came out of the gate fast in Montreal tonight. Jiri Tlusty scored on Carey Price in just over 3 minutes from puck drop. Tuomo Ruutu had to leave the game after receiving a hit from Tomas Plekanec. There are unconfirmed reports that he is suffering from an upper body injury. The Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead with a powerplay goal by former Canadien Jaroslav Spacek. That goal must of fired up the Montreal Canadiens because they scored 3 goals in under 10 minutes to take a 3-2 lead. Canadien goals were scored by Tomas Plekanec, former Carolina Hurricane Erik Cole and David Desharnais. Eric Staal evened up the score with a shorthanded goal in the early minutes of the 3rd period. Carolina’s Jamie McBain scores on the powerplay mid-way through the 3rd period to give the Hurricanes a 4-3 lead. Eric Staal adds an empty net goal as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Montreal Canadiens 5-3. Both goaltenders were busy with Cam Ward stopping 30 out of 33 shots and Carey Price stopped 30 out of 34 shots.
