NHL Injury Updates!!!

Montreal Canadiens captain Brian Gionta has had surgery to repair a torn right bicep and will be out indefinitely. Scott Gomez just returned to the Canadiens line-up after missing 21 games with a groin injury. Andrei Markov has missed 118 games due to a knee injury and Ryan White has missed 46 games this season with a lower-body injury.

Toronto Maple Leafs winger Colby Armstrong and defenseman John-Michael Liles are still recovering from concussions received earlier this season.

Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard is out indefinitely with post-concussion syndrome.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is still recovering from a left shoulder injury. Jordan Eberle is getting excited that he will soon be returning to the line-up after being out with a knee injury. Taylor Hall was cut above the eye in practice with a teammates skate. He required 30 stitches and will be out of the line-up for a few games.

St. Louis Blues winger Alex Steen is still not able to return due to concussion-like symptoms. He will miss his 10th game since his injury. Also Blues Kris Russell will be making his return to the line-up tonight against the Edmonton Oilers after being out with a groin injury for 9 games.

Philadelphia Flyers Chris Pronger is still suffering from post-concussion syndrome which has put him out of the line-up indefinitely. Pronger’s initial injury occurred on Oct 24th when he took a high stick to the eye. He played his last game November 19th in Winnipeg. Flyers Forward James van Reimsdyk has been sidelined due to a concussion.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang will return to the ice tonight against the New York Rangers. Letang suffered a concussion by a hit from Max Pacioretty and has not played since Nov. 26. However the injury list is Pittsburgh is still way too long. Sidney Crosby is still out because of a concussion. Aaron Asham is now experiencing concussion-like symptoms. Jordan Staal will be out 4-6 weeks due to a knee injury and defenseman Simon Depres is out for 2 weeks with a knee sprain.

The Minnesota Wild’s captain Mikko Koivu suffered an upper body injury which is now being reported as a shoulder injury that will put him on the sidelines for at least a month. Concussions have really hurt the Wild players. Guillaume Latendresse, Marek Zidlicky, Josh Harding and Pierre-Marc Bouchard have all been sidelined due to a concussion. Forward Devin Setoguchi has an ankle injury and goalie Nicklas Backstrom has a groin injury. Zidlicky and Backstrom have currently returned to the line-up!
